Job Costing

What is committed costs?

Definition

Costs you've contractually agreed to but haven't been invoiced for yet, such as open purchase orders and subcontract balances.

Why track them

Actual costs lag reality. Committed costs show what's already locked in, which makes your cost-to-complete estimate far more reliable and surfaces overruns before the invoices arrive.

Tracking labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs against each individual project and cost code, so you know what every job actually costs.

The estimated remaining cost to finish a job. Together with costs to date, it sets total estimated cost and drives percent complete.
